Our Story

Jeff Shives has loved flying and working on aircraft from an early age and founded Hutch Aviation to combine his passion for flying and maintenance know-how. With core principles of integrity, transparency, and service excellence, his values set the foundation for everything we do. Today, Hutch Aviation Services leadership team is comprised of a diverse group of subject matter experts across multiple aircraft platforms.

With our new 8000 square foot facility in Lufkin (KLFK) and our expanded facility covering 8000 square feet in Nacogdoches (KOCH), our team is ready to serve you with any jet-powered and turbine aircraft needs. Hutch Aviation Services is taking our “Customer-First” approach to a broader network of professional aircraft owners and fleet managers.

Enabled by Drew Surrette and our team, we bring years of professional experience in servicing King Airs, Citations, and other large aircraft. We believe in providing expert, transparent, and efficient service where we will earn our Customer’s confidence and trust for as long they need our services. At Hutch Aviation Services, we don’t just maintain aircraft – we are here to uphold a legacy of excellence.

Mission Statement:

"To deliver exceptional aircraft maintenance solutions ensuring the safety, performance, and reliability we would expect of our own aircraft carrying our own families by

leveraging cutting-edge technology to meet the highest standards."

In addition to aviation experience across the world from Afghanistan to San Diego across 11 different airframes, Justin held several key maintenance officer positions for much of his Marine Corps flying career before he began managing logistics and aviation businesses. Justin’s guidance ensures integrity and ownership of our work will remain at the forefront of every decision we make.

Chief Aircraft

Maintenance Officer

A&P / IA

Drew Surette

Drew grew up in Boston and leveraged his aptitude for fixing turbines and jets to build a stellar aviation maintenance career from Maine to Texas. He made waves in East Texas as an all-star mechanic, earning his IA and becoming Director of Maintenance for a part 141 flight school. With Drew’s expertise, Hutch Aviation Services is able to provide a range of solutions to professional aircraft owners across the spectrum of aircraft type/model/series.

Director of Maintenance

Jeff Shives

With a 40-year track record of delivering aircraft maintenance solutions through ingenuity and an unmatched East Texas work-ethic, Jeff Shives’ leadership ensures we will always be customer focused. Jeff built a substantial aircraft parts manufacturing business simply because he found ways to make parts faster, better, and less expensive than what the market was telling him his customers had to accept. His problem solving attitude permeates everything we do – we won’t accept a poor solution.

Vice President of Operations

Chris Shives

Chris learned the trade through his father and continues to apply innovative solutions to meet customers’ needs. He grew up around the aircraft maintenance and repair business, built other successful ventures, and is now focusing his efforts on growing the service lines of Hutch Aviation Services.
