Our Story

Jeff Shives has loved flying and working on aircraft from an early age and founded Hutch Aviation to combine his passion for flying and maintenance know-how. With core principles of integrity, transparency, and service excellence, his values set the foundation for everything we do. Today, Hutch Aviation Services leadership team is comprised of a diverse group of subject matter experts across multiple aircraft platforms.

With our new 8000 square foot facility in Lufkin (KLFK) and our expanded facility covering 8000 square feet in Nacogdoches (KOCH), our team is ready to serve you with any jet-powered and turbine aircraft needs. Hutch Aviation Services is taking our “Customer-First” approach to a broader network of professional aircraft owners and fleet managers.

Enabled by Drew Surrette and our team, we bring years of professional experience in servicing King Airs, Citations, and other large aircraft. We believe in providing expert, transparent, and efficient service where we will earn our Customer’s confidence and trust for as long they need our services. At Hutch Aviation Services, we don’t just maintain aircraft – we are here to uphold a legacy of excellence.

Mission Statement:

"To deliver exceptional aircraft maintenance solutions ensuring the safety, performance, and reliability we would expect of our own aircraft carrying our own families by

leveraging cutting-edge technology to meet the highest standards."

Hutch Aviation Services in the news

On March 3, 2025, prior to officially opening its doors for business, Hutch Aviation Services opened it’s 43,000 pound
hangar door to shelter and repair an unexpected customer. The night prior an Embraer Phenom 300, N301AS, experienced a dual generator failure at FL430 and made an emergency landing at the Angelina County airport. Ready to offer a helping hand, Hutch Aviation Services’ Director of Maintenance, Jeff Shives, coordinated with the airport staff and helped moved the jet, after replacing it’s blown tires, to the Hutch Aviation Services hangar where it could be inspected, repaired, and returned to service.
